Learning a new instrument or expanding on your current skills can feel really exciting, but it can also feel nerve-wracking! We have a staff of instructors who will make you feel comfortable, while also helping you reach your goals.

We offer one-on-one private music lessons for people of all ages and abilities. Our teachers offer lessons in piano, guitar, fiddle, violin, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, bass, flute, and more!

Our students receive discounts on instrument repair services, workshops, and events at The Northerly. You also get to be a part of this corner of our local music community!

We have a limited supply of instruments for rent. They are available first-come, first-serve. If you’d like to rent an instrument please send us an email.

Music Lessons - The Northerly School for Music

Lesson Rates

Single

Single lessons are offered for students who are preparing for a performance, honing in on their skills, or are just interested in a couple lessons.

$45 per half hour or $90 per hour.

Monthly

Monthly lessons are offered to students who can only commit to a month at a time or are only needing 4-5 lessons in total.

$40 per half hour or $80 per hour.

Monthly payment plans begin on the 1st day of the month and end on the final calendar day.

Quarterly

Quarterly lessons are offered for students who are wishing to have ongoing instruction with their instrument. We recommend signing up for quarterly lessons as it has the highest potential for growth and an understanding of your instrument. Many of our students are ongoing and have been taking lessons for over a year.

$35 per half hour or $70 per hour. You can start lessons at any point during the quarter and we will prorate the invoice accordingly.

Note: Owner, Kyle Orla, only takes new students periodically. Reach out for his current rates.

Scholarship Fund

It is important to us that anyone who wants to learn to play music, can.

Anyone is welcome to apply for our Scholarship program. The Northerly will place priority on applications from people who come from under-represented, historically marginalized groups that may include such characteristics as race, ethnicity, geography, gender, age, religion, ability and sexual orientation.
