Clifton Nesseth
Violin, Flute, Guitar, Ukulele, Electric Bass, Piano, Upright Bass
Clifton "Clif" Nesseth (he/him) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and recording engineer from Duluth, MN. He is a constant explorer of folk traditions and music from other cultures. Flute, violin, guitar, keyboards/synths, bass, and a variety of other instruments are common tools of his trade. An ardent disciple of the Norwegian Hardanger Fiddle and the Japanese Shakuhachi (a bamboo flute), Clif has been incredibly fortunate to find music and community in many corners of the world. He's currently busy performing and recording with his own band, Ponyfolk, which he co-founded in 2014.
He keeps a busy performance calendar, filling in on whatever instrument is required with many bands, including Black River Revue and Ole Olsson's Oldtime Orkestra. He is also involved with organizing Nordic music and dance opportunities throughout the Twin Ports area, including Duluth-stämman, an annual festival presented by The Nordic Center of Duluth, where he also serves as the Arts & Cultural Events Coordinator.
Clif studied music and environmental theology at St. Olaf College, and was a four year member of the St. Olaf Band. If he isn't working on something music related, you can find him out on the ski trail, listening to a variety of podcasts on the drive back and forth from the cities, and most importantly, spending time with his family!
